Unclaimed Property and Deceased Members
Capital credits and other payments belonging to a deceased member may be eligible for payment to an estate or beneficiary.
For funds still held by Bartlett Electric Cooperative, individuals requesting payment on behalf of a deceased member must provide a death certificate along with appropriate estate documentation. Accepted documents may include a will, an Affidavit of Heirship or Letters Testamentary.
Once the required documentation is received and the claim is verified, BEC may reissue eligible payments to the appropriate beneficiaries or to the estate of the deceased member through the designated executor.
If the funds have already been transferred to the State of Texas, the beneficiary or estate representative must submit the claim through ClaimItTexas.gov and provide the documentation requested by the state.
