Caitlynn Tschoerner

Represents BEC in Washington, D.C.

Caitlynn Tschoerner of Bartlett, TX completed the Annual Government-In-Action Youth Tour. Bartlett Electric Cooperative sponsors one high school junior or senior each year to participate in this event.

Caitlynn travelled to Washington, D.C., with approximately 90 other Youth Tour winners from other Texas electric cooperatives for a week long stay. She had the opportunity to meet congressional representatives, visit historic memorials and cultural centers in our nation’s capital.

Not only did Caitlynn come home with a better understanding of our government, she came home with lifetime memories and new friends. “Thank you. It was a great opportunity and I encourage others to try to take this trip also.  I saw so many things and made lifelong friends that I will never forget.” she told members, directors and employees at the BEC Annual Meeting.

Bartlett’s Old Town Festival

Bartlett Electric Cooperative celebrated its 75th year anniversary at its June Annual Meeting, but the celebration did not end there. Bartlett EC not only led the parade at Bartlett’s Old Town Festival, but also had the honor of escorting the Grand Marshall, Mary Saage. Mary also has a historic connection to Bartlett EC. Mary is the widow of the Saage’s youngest child, Curtis Saage. Curtis was the son of Charles and Lydia Saage and their home was the first house in the United States energized with power financed under the Rural Electrification Administration (REA). Her story was featured in the October issue of the Texas Co-op Power magazine last year.
